Mental Health Department goal is to assist individuals with mental health issues become more functional in emotional, cognitive, social, vocational, educational and/or self- care areas.

Services Include:

  • Mental Health Clinic: Psychiatric Evaluation & Treatment, Psychological Services, Psychopharmacology, Psychosocial Evaluation & Treatment, Psychotherapy for All Ages, Clinical Therapeutic Services. All fees for services are based upon the individual’s ability to pay. The Mental Health Clinic also accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most other forms of insurance.
  • Family Support Services: A program offered by the Cortland County Mental Health Department that serves the families of children and adolescents experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioral challenges. Designed to provide supportive services that empower families and enhance their ability to care for their special-needs children in the home. A program that operates on the principle of individualized care, recognizing that each family is unique in its strengths and needs. A program whose goals include assisting families to improve overall functioning, reducing stress and restoring stability and assisting parents in developing effective parenting skills.
  • Horizon House: Helps individuals whose lives have been substantially impaired by their mental illness and are in need of a higher level of structure and support than that which can be provided in a clinic setting
