The Kinship Care Program will provide information, advocacy, referrals, and resources, up to date information on kinship care laws, as well as a friendly ear to any adult who is raising someone else’s child.

This means:

• Advocacy to help kinship caregivers apply for the Non-Parent Caregiver grant, Medicaid, and Childcare Subsidy (if applicable) at the Department of Social Services.
• Assistance with free school meals (breakfast & lunch) and addressing any issues around enrolling your kinship child in school.
•Guidance understanding the different child custody options
•Community resource connections
•Any issues around other types of benefits

Other services include:

• Legal advocacy with Family Court paperwork and understanding the Family Court process
• Help line for information and referrals to available community resources
• Kinship Family Events
• Support groups and workshops related to kinship care topics. We also utilize the Parenting A Second time Around curriculum
NOTE: Support Groups are held on alternate Wednesdays & Thursday evenings from 7:00PM-8:00PM
• The virtual meeting link will be posted on the Facebook page on the day of the support group. Please click on the link to join the meeting.
