CAPCO runs some of its own assistance programs, and is also a leading agency to turn to for access to both New York and federal government programs. They offer the following options.

  • Energy bill help: Learn about the federal government / New York LIHEAP utility program. This assistance can help prevent a disconnection and also offers regular, ongoing cash grants.
  • Weatherization: This program can pay for the insulation of floors, roofs, and walls. It can repair & replace heating systems, repair & replace hot water tanks, install caulking and weather-stripping, inspect appliances, and offers various other energy saving updates to homes.

  • Family Development works towards self-sufficiency and offers free budgeting, fiscal literacy; nutrition; education and parent support through Parents with Hope groups Head Start is available. This is for children under the age of 5. It addresses educational needs, food, and even medical care. Parents can enroll into social service programs.

  • The Head Start / Early Head Start program is for low-income infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families. HS/EHS programs enhance the development of very young children by promoting school readiness of children ages birth to five by supporting their development in a comprehensive way.

  • WIC Program to help with applying for benefits, nutrition education, certified lactation counselors, peer counselors, and help planning healthy meals.

  • The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP) affords the Consumer (the individual being cared for) the opportunity to live in the community as independently as possible while taking on the responsibility of an active, consumer-directed role in the planning and implementation of their own homecare.
