Serves: All NYS Counties – supports foster, kinship, & adoptive parents, support professionals, & those who wish to become foster parents

Hours:  Available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

The AFFCNY Team educates and supports foster, kinship and adoptive parents, the professionals who serve them and those wishing to foster or become parents through information-sharing, services, peer support and referral.

The team improves services available to children and families, increases citizen involvement in local service planning and delivery, educates leaders and stakeholders about the realities, challenges and rewards of foster, kinship and adoptive parenting, and advocates for greater support of foster, kinship and adoptive families by federal, state and local agencies.

Services include:

• Information and education – subjects related to kinship care, foster care, and adoption
• Referral to KSP for legal or informal custody or guardianship in applicable counties (Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Tompkins counties)
• Referral to AGAPE (Adoption and Guardianship Assistance Program for Everyone) post-adoption and post-guardianship services as applicable (New York city’s five boroughs (Brooklyn, Staten Island, Manhattan, Bronx, Queens) or Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Cortland, Dutchess, Nassau, Madison, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Suffolk, Tompkins, Ulster or Westchester Counties)
