Eligibility: Duet defines a “grandfamily” as individuals who are raising grandchildren or other relative caregivers who are raising extended family member’s children. Grandfamilies need to demonstrate they are actively and legally authorized to care for their vulnerable child – Formal and/or informal.

The purpose of Duet’s kinship care services is to provide critical support to grandparents raising their grandchildren and relative caregivers when their parents could no longer care for them – to provide children a safe, stable, and nurturing environment. Services are family centered, strength based and focused on the expressed needs of the family.

Services provided: Kinship Care Services focused on giving families the support, information, and tools to care for their vulnerable loved one.

  • Educational Workshops
  • Social Events
  • Respite Funds for Kid Activities
  • Legal Guidance
  • Care Coordination
  • Resources, Information, and Referral.

Intake Process: To qualify for our services a detailed intake/interview is required for families requesting support services except for support group meeting attendance. Provide acceptable documents needed for a complete intake include:

  • Photo ID
  • Month Income (financial statement, paystubs etc….)
  • Signed court order by a judge (non-parent custody, guardianship, adoption etc….)
  • Power of Attorney (POA), will be accepted only when families provide an authorization letter from DES-FAA demonstrating child(ren) are part of grandfamilies case and receiving benefit such as medical assistance, snap, cash assistance etc….
