Program Coverage Area is Southeast Alaska

Haa Yatx’u Saani (hah yut koo saw knee) is Tlingit for ‘Our Precious Children.’ The Kin Support Program – Haa Yatx’u Saani is open to all families in the Southeast Alaska region where a relative is raising a child outside of the state foster care system (aka informal care). Program is culturally-based and welcomes both indigenous and non-indigenous families.

The Kin Support Program offers two Family Specialists to connect with and advocate for financial, educational, therapeutic, cultural and other supports.

The Kin Support Program has an in-house attorney for relative caregivers and contract with a private attorney for parents.

Relative caregivers, parents, and older youth are all able to apply. The Kin Support Program has an application-free intake process that involves a conversation with a Family Specialist to learn about your family and their needs.
