Kinship Care In New York: A Five Year Framework For Action

The report presents the New York State Kincare Coalition’s recommendations for action over the next five years to support grandparents and other kincaregivers raising children.
Report author Gerard Wallace and a panel of contributors will present the findings at a stakeholders’ meeting bringing together members of all branches of government, kincaregivers, advocates, and service agencies.
The report makes 19 recommendations addressing five core areas where improvements are needed: Special Challenges - Special Services; Statewide Kincare Service Network; Data Collection, Measurable Outcomes & Research; Statutory and Regulatory Changes; and Legal Assistance.
Support for the 2008 Kincare Report is provided by the AARP Foundation with generous funding from the New York Life Foundation.

The Born Learning Partnership Support Network
The Born Learning Partnership has launched an "informal support network" open to all types of child care providers. The network meets monthly for information sharing, guest speakers, resource referral, and social networking. The goal is to help people find support and to encourage training and licensing. The group is also planning its first field trip for adults and young children. Meetings are held in Schenectady with plans to expand throughout the capital district.
