This is a Permanency Resource Center (PRC) to serve post adoptive and post guardianship families. It cannot serve kinship families with custody or informal arrangements.

Relatives as Parents Program – Syracuse Housing Authority
RAPP serves relatives acting as caregivers to family members.  Funded by the Onondaga County Department of Aging and Youth, this program provides support, assistance, referrals and social opportunities to caregivers in Onondaga County.  Participants have the opportunity to access conversation, support, and assistance at the “coffee and conversation” meetings every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month from 10am until 11:30am.

Every Wednesday from noon to 3:00 p.m., Volunteer attorneys provide assistance with completing pro se petitions and advice and information regarding to family court process to drop-in clients. Attorneys assist any client who is at or below 200% of the federal poverty guideline with custody, visitation, paternity and child support matters. Kin caregivers are welcome and encouraged to seek assistance at this clinic.

Since 1966 LSCNY has represented low income, disabled and elderly residents of Central New York in civil legal cases. Our work helps our clients deal with some of life’s most basic needs — a safe home, enough food to eat, access to medical care, a decent education, protection against fraud, and personal safety. Will give advice regarding kinship law, Grandparent’s Rights, Education Law- Income eligibility must be met.

The Caregiver Resource Center is actively engaged in the Relatives As Parents Program, which provides information and referral, counseling, advocacy, support groups, informational seminars, and social events for grandparents and other relatives who are main caregivers for a relative’s children. The program is available to caregivers on Wednesday and Thursday, and the contact person is Johanna Hannah.
